Gaining Energy Capacity
Without Capital Spending

The Mackay Sugar Mill was concerned about the reliability of power being supplied to the processing facility. The high voltage site included various substations feeding the processing of sugar cane in QLD.

The transformer on site was operating at full capacity, and the customer was concerned about the potential for loss of production due to the high risk of power failure.

Any installed equipment needed to be able to cope reliably with the hot, humid environment.

Seasonal loading meant that there was a very short time period for a solution to be provided before production ramped up.

What we did

Captech monitored the energy usage at site for a week to identify the source of energy supply issues.

An Automatic Power Factor Correction system was installed at the local substation which allowed the customer to gain an additional 20% capacity on the supply.
